Beach Maternity Session

The beach is always a popular spot for any type of photo session and it is where we also took our pregnancy announcement photos, so it was great to go back there and do our maternity session – it felt full circle. Maybe I will even take our baby girl out there and do a little mommy and me session one day!

Beach Maternity Session

For our beach photos, I wanted to wear something that was light and breezy to match the ambience of the beach. I actually had a hard time finding a dress for our maternity pictures because I really wanted to avoid the off the shoulder style, which is really popular and I didn’t want something form fitting since I wore that for our black and white maternity session.

I went with this white maxi dress from Amazon (which I also own in black and wore in our pregnancy announcement pictures). It is actually a great staple piece to have and can wear pregnant or not. The one thing I will note is sizing is way way way off. I ordered a small and probably could have even done an extra small as my bra did show a tiny bit under my arms and had to make sure it stayed pulled up. Plus, the length is really long (which is nice for me, since I am almost 5’8.” Then I paired it with this pink lace cardigan. I wanted something to add a little something extra to the plainer dress and wanted it to me girly and feminine since we are having a girl! This was perfect and I will probably get a lot of use out of it!

My husband ordered this shirt as well and then just wore a pair of jeans. I typically have him wear jeans or khakis in most of our pictures.

Another important thing for me was having my hair and makeup professionally done. I am NOT good at styling my own hair and honestly, my makeup skills are very very limited and I wanted to really make these special.

Our photographer was Bri Cibene and as always she was amazing. Bri is a good friend of ours so we are always comfortable in front of her camera. I love her editing style and her creativity in poses without looking too staged!

When you are taking maternity pictures just think about the beautiful life you are bringing into the world, how amazing your body transformation is and how excited you are to be parents and they will automatically feel so much more natural!
